The Albion Park Youth Taskforce is an initiative of Central Illawarra Youth Services and Albion Park Neighbourhood Association. This is a pilot project.
The Albion Park Youth Taskforce aims to:
· To encourage young peoples involvement in decision making processes on issues that effect them in the Albion Park Area
· To provide young people with the opportunity to plan and implement recreational activities appropriate to their needs; and
· To increase leadership capacity in young people by building on their knowledge, skills and strengths.
The taskforce aims to provide opportunities for young people to develop and learn new skills like budgeting, leadership, team work, contributing positively to their community and build upon young peoples strengths. The taskforce also aims to reinforce the connections that young people have with their family.
The young people will make the decisions on activities they want to participate in, outings and places they want to go to based on the budget provided. The young people will do all the research that is involved in planning the events and outings, resourced by the youth development worker and supervised by CIYS staff.
